Aberdeen City Council Wins Local Authority Fleet Operator of the Year

  • Submitted by: Jackie Dunbar, Aberdeen Donside, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 23 November 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06895

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen City Council on being awarded Local Authority Fleet Operator of the Year at the 2023 Transport News Scottish Rewards presentation breakfast; notes that the award recognised Aberdeen City Council’s commitment to sustainable fleet vehicles, including reducing CO2 emissions through the deployment of road sweepers; understands that once the nine-strong fleet of road sweepers is converted, it has the potential to save almost 30 tonnes of CO2; notes that the 2023 awards presentation was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, and commends Aberdeen City Council’s continued commitment to grow its electric and hydrogen fleets, which, it understands, has included the introduction of dual fuel HGVs, refuse vehicles and road sweepers over the previous two years, as well as the council’s continued commitment to make Aberdeen a net zero city.
