CIPD Four-day Working Week Report

  • Submitted by: Paul McLennan, East Lothian, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 21 November 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06761
  • Current status: Achieved cross-party support

That the Parliament welcomes the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) report, The Four-day Week: Scottish employer perspectives on moving to a shorter working week; recognises what it sees as the opportunities and challenges of moving to a four-day working week and the positive impact that greater flexibility in when, where and how people work can have on their working lives, including in the East Lothian constituency; understands that this report highlights Scottish employer views on reducing hours without reducing pay and finds a gap between current employer plans and future expectations in relation to the four-day working week; welcomes the trials that are supported by the Scottish Government, and believes that further evidence around wellbeing and productivity is crucial in supporting a transition to a shorter working week.
