  • Submitted by: Carol Mochan, South Scotland, Scottish Labour.

  • Motion reference: S6M-06336

That the Parliament commends Kilmarnock FC and Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust for the work it is doing to encourage more women and girls to play football; notes that over 60 women and girls now play regular recreational football at the club; understands that players of Kilmarnock FC Women signed their first professional contracts during summer 2022; believes that this highlights the pathway that exists at the East Ayrshire club; considers the incredible progress made in women’s football in recent years to be testament to the work of players, supporters, coaches, and volunteers; believes that there is still a long way to go to make sport affordable and fully accessible to a considerable proportion of the population, and congratulates Kilmarnock FC and Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust for the work they are doing to increase participation in recreational football across the local community.
