  • Submitted by: Stephanie Callaghan, Uddingston and Bellshill, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 26 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06007

That the Parliament applauds the work of Morrisons Community Champions, Shell Foley and Kimberly Cairns, in Hamilton; understands that the initiative was expanded to further support the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic and that the expansion allowed them to run their own foodbank situated in a local school hub, which, it understands, also serviced eight other local schools; understands that they currently support another foodbank locally with donations and volunteer hours and that they have been working closely with a local care home to provide a garden makeover as well as providing dementia therapy dolls to the residents; notes the collection and delivery of 216 boxes for a reversed advent appeal, which, it understands, were all donated by customers, as well as collecting and delivering Easter Eggs to children in the local area; understands that alongside their ongoing support for local campaigns, they are also a drop-off point for South Lanarkshire Council’s Winter Coat Appeal and are involved in School Larders and The Seeds of Hope campaign; commends Shell and Kimberly for the support that they have provided to the local community so far, and wishes them every success as they continue to go above and beyond to support local families.
