Five Brothers to Run to Raise Money for Armed Forces Charity

  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 07 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05873

That the Parliament wishes every success to five brothers as they compete in one of Britain’s biggest half marathon events to raise money for an armed forces charity that supports and assists ex-servicemen; notes that Rab Joe Paisley, who plays for Creetown Football Club, will be joined on the starting line by Jon, Dee, Alan and James when they take part in the Great North Run in Newcastle, on 11 September 2022; understands that Team Paisley will be attempting to boost the coffers of the Walking With The Wounded charity once again, and further understands that four of them have served in the British Army, including tours in the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland and the Balkans, experiencing at first hand some of the issues brought about, both personally and with friends, as they attempt to regain their independence while integrating back into civilian life and make a positive contribution to their local communities.
