  • Submitted by: Paul O'Kane, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 06 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05833

That the Parliament recognises that Moving On Inverclyde, a charity that provides help and support to people who experience drug and alcohol-related problems, will turn 20 years old on 30 September 2022; understands that this organisation has spent the last two decades offering a person centred support service in Inverclyde that is tailored to individuals’ needs; notes that the charity’s programme involves different phases of support, including preparation for recovery, recovery skills and personal resilience training, as well as vocational training, education and employability; further notes that the charity is run by a dedicated team of full-time staff members and also a team of equally dedicated volunteers; considers that Moving On Inverclyde and many organisations like it should be supported with appropriate funding that will allow them to continue, undeterred, to deliver their vital service in offering people the chance to recover from drug and alcohol-related problems; congratulates Moving On Inverclyde in reaching an impressive milestone, and wishes it the best in continuing that contribution to the Inverclyde community in the future.
