National Racehorse Week

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 29 August 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05765

That the Parliament celebrates National Racehorse Week from 10 to 18 September 2022, during which anyone can visit racing training yards, as part of a nationwide annual celebration of the racehorse; understands that National Racehorse Week is a unique opportunity for people to see first-hand the love, care and attention that goes into looking after these equine athletes; recognises what it sees as the high standards of horse welfare in the racing industry, and understands that this is an experience like no other, where over 170 events across Britain, including training yards, studs and retraining centres, will open their doors to the public to show what life as a racehorse is really like.
