New North Lanarkshire Training Café Strengthens Supported Employment Programme

That the Parliament congratulates North Lanarkshire Council’s Supported Enterprise Service and Volvo, which have worked in partnership to launch the Sunnyside Café at Volvo’s Newhouse site; understands that the café, named by pupils from North Lanarkshire Council’s additional support needs schools, will provide individually-tailored training and development opportunities in a real working environment to senior phase pupils with additional support needs, care experienced young people and people with disabilities; notes that this venture is the latest collaboration between North Lanarkshire Council and Volvo, with past projects aiming to ensure Volvo has a diversity-rich workforce, which represents the communities they operate in; applauds the ambition surrounding this new initiative with the aim to expand operating hours and provide pathways for service users to obtain qualifications, and wishes everyone involved every success as the café continues to grow and develop.
