That the Parliament congratulates Bellshill-based Wing It Musical Theatre, a performing arts school for young people, on the success of its first-ever live performance of Matilda the Musical Jr, an adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl story, performed at Webster's Theatre in Glasgow on 12 June 2022; understands that the school, launched in June 2021 with the intention of bringing children together and creating a safe space post-lockdown, has grown considerably since its formation, with performances scheduled for the Edinburgh Fringe and Princes Square in Glasgow; commends Wing It Musical Theatre co-founders, Steph and Patrick, for their passion and hard work in creating and facilitating the first production, involving 60 children and young people aged from four to 17 years from the Bellshill and surrounding area; considers that groups like Wing It are important to local communities, boosting the creativity, confidence and communication skills of young people and providing them with alternative ways to excel; notes that as well as an annual show and other performances, Wing It Musical Theatre is facilitating opportunities for students to take part in television programmes as extras or audience members, introducing them to the wider world of entertainment and the arts; understands that the group has already announced a second production, which will be a performance of High School Musical 2 in March 2023, with rehearsals due to start in August 2022, and wishes the group well in its future artistic endeavours.
