25th Anniversary of Skaill House, Orkney

  • Submitted by: Jamie Halcro Johnston, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 23 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05017

That the Parliament welcomes the 25th anniversary of the opening of Skaill House, on the Breckness Estate in Orkney, to the public; understands that, as well as the house itself being one of the most successful tourist attractions in Orkney, the estate also contains the internationally-renowned Neolithic site Skara Brae, which is operated by Historic Environment Scotland; recognises that both sites welcome thousands of people every year, from across the world, playing an important part in attracting visitors to Orkney, and congratulates Skaill’s owner, Major Malcolm Macrae, and all of his staff for their considerable efforts and success over the last 25 years.
