That the Parliament congratulates Tynecastle and Gracemount High Schools on being the first schools in Scotland to partner with the UK wide charity, Future First; understands that Future First helps state schools and colleges build alumni communities so that current pupils have relatable role models and can develop networks for work experience and future career opportunities; further understands that the first session at Tynecastle was for S6 pupils and involved nine alumni volunteers from a range of backgrounds, including engineering and banking; wishes Gracemount High School good luck for their first face to face session later this month; believes that there is inequality in children’s personal networks, where it understands that nearly 50% of children on free school meals do not know anyone in a job that they would like to do; notes what it sees as the positive impact that Future First makes through its current reach of 268,513 state school alumni and 453,336 state school students; encourages state schools across Scotland to consider the positive impact that working with organisations such as Future First can have on pupils' life chances; thanks all of those involved, and expresses hope that even more state school pupils in Scotland will soon benefit from this work.
