Michael Nakonecznyj

  • Submitted by: Bob Doris, Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 26 April 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04133

That the Parliament wishes Michael Nakonecznyj well for his forthcoming retirement from Lambhill Stables, where it understands he has been employed since its inception in 2007; understands that The Stables is a community facility, which sits on the Forth and Clyde Canal in north Glasgow in an area where Michael was born, brought up and has remained resident in the area throughout his life; further understands that Michael has drawn on his memories of the area's industrial past and natural heritage to offer incredibly comprehensive local tours for visitors to Lambhill Stables; understands that Michael's dad came to Glasgow from Ukraine following the Second World War and settled in Lambhill, and that Michael will happily recount stories of that time; believes that the contribution made by Michael Nakonecznyj and others, who also gather and share the rich social history from within their communities, provide a valuable service for all; thanks Mr Nakonecznyj for all his efforts in making Lambhill Stables the success it is today, and for his many years within the wider community, where he also serves as a community councillor, and anticipates that Mr Nakonecznyj will have a long, rewarding and busy retirement as he intends to volunteer at The Stables, including offering boat trips, heritage talks and walking tours.
