  • Date lodged: Monday, 04 April 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03930

That the Parliament congratulates HALO Kilmarnock Enterprise and Innovation Centre on winning the Regeneration Project of the Year award at the Scottish Property Awards; notes that, under Marie Macklin’s leadership, HALO has transformed the landscape at the former Johnnie Walker plant, creating an exciting mixed-use property development, transforming the local environment and creating a positive economic and social impact for the town; welcomes the net-zero carbon footprint on the site and the industry-leading opportunities for business entrepreneurship; further welcomes the plans to create a cyber and digital training facility, as well as for the establishment of one of Scotland’s 5G innovation hubs at the HALO Digital & Cyber Innovation Park, which will act as a business enabler, providing world-class digital facilities at no initial cost to the users; hopes to see further regeneration models of this type being progressed elsewhere to unlock the potential of local communities; congratulates Marie and all her team in putting the HALO concept together over the last 13 years, and wishes the entire project every success in the coming years.
