Celebrating the Inaugural World Gaelic Week

  • Submitted by: Donald Cameron, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 11 March 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03549

That the Parliament welcomes the inaugural World Gaelic Week, which will take place between 21 to 27 March 2022; understands that World Gaelic Week has been pioneered by broadcaster and musician Joy Dunlop, who is Director of Seachdain na Gàidhlig; recognises that the week-long series of cultural events was inspired by similar campaigns in Ireland and Cape Breton and also followed on from the success of #SayAGaelicPhraseDay during lockdown, and wishes both the organisers and participants of World Gaelic Week every success in its first year and beyond.
