CyberScotland Week 2022

  • Submitted by: Paul McLennan, East Lothian, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 03 March 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03396

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the fourth annual CyberScotland Week, which will host over 90 events across Scotland from 28 February to 6 March 2022; believes that CyberScotland Week provides an important opportunity for everyone to improve their online safety; notes that communities, experts, influencers, and the next generation of talent will come together during this week with the aim of informing a wide audience, improving Scotland’s cyber resilience, and inspiring future talent; highlights that Police Scotland, ScotlandIS, Education Scotland, and the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, which is the lead organisation, are just some of the organisations taking part to share their expertise this year; understands that cybercrime continues to pose a significant threat to the UK’s businesses and charities, with four in ten businesses and a quarter of charities reporting cyber-attacks during 2021, and hopes that this year’s CyberScotland Week will build on previous successes, helping to make Scotland more cyber-resilient and further developing Scotland’s position as a centre for cyber expertise.
