New Guide for Retailers on Reducing Emissions

  • Submitted by: Maurice Golden, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 23 February 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03249

That the Parliament welcomes the publication of a new guide for retailers on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in their supply chains; notes that it was produced by the Scottish Retail Consortium and its sister organisations across the UK together with IBM; understands that this forms part of the industry’s net zero roadmap, which is designed to assist the retail sector to decarbonise stores by 2030 and more broadly, the sector’s whole operations and supply chain by 2040; further understands that the guide outlines detailed practical steps that retailers can take in collaboration with suppliers to monitor, measure, report and reduce emissions, and ultimately build what it sees as more resilient and efficient supply chains, and commends what it believes, is an industry-leading and responsible initiative from retailers to help to deliver a more sustainable economy.
