Cervical Cancer Prevention Week

  • Submitted by: Carol Mochan, South Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02787

That the Parliament notes that the week commencing 17 January 2022 is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week; considers that attending cervical screening is vitally important and can save lives, yet for many, barriers remain that prevent access to screening, and calls for these barriers to be removed; believes that no-one should feel confused or alone when receiving their cervical screening results, and highlights the great work of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust in providing continuous information and support for people across Scotland and the UK when dealing with cervical cancer, and encourages all MSPs to support Cervical Cancer Prevention Week in order to reinforce the value of attending cervical screening for everyone who requires it.
